Terms of Service

Effective [DATE YOU PUBLISH THIS]

These are the terms on which [YOUR NAME OR COMPANY] ("we", "us") provides Ambiglot to you. They are written to be read. Installing or paying for Ambiglot means you agree to them.

1. What Ambiglot is

Ambiglot is a browser extension that translates messages you read on supported websites into your language, and translates the replies you write into the other person's language before they are sent. Translation is performed either on your own device, using your browser's built-in model, or by our cloud service, which uses a third-party AI model.

2. Translation is automatic, and you are the sender

Machine translation is very good and not perfect. It can mistranslate, change tone, or miss context — especially names, numbers, dates, legal terms and jokes. You remain responsible for every message sent from your account on any site. Ambiglot shows you the translated text before it goes; for anything where a wrong word matters — contracts, medical or legal matters, money — read it, or send in a language you both share.

We are not a party to any conversation, transaction or agreement you conduct using Ambiglot.

3. Plans, trial and billing

4. Cancelling and refunds

5. Acceptable use

Use Ambiglot only on accounts and sites you are entitled to use, and within those sites' own terms. Do not use it to send unlawful, harassing or deceptive messages, to spam, or to interfere with the service or its translation provider. Do not attempt to circumvent plan limits or trial restrictions. We may suspend or end service to anyone who does.

6. Third-party sites and services

Ambiglot works inside websites we do not control — Gmail, Telegram, Discord and others. Those sites change without notice, and a change can stop Ambiglot working on them until we update it. We do not guarantee support for any particular site, and we are not responsible for those sites' availability, content or conduct. Cloud translation is performed by an AI model provider under our agreement with them, which prohibits use of your text for training.

7. Your data

What we read, what we send, and what we keep is set out in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms. In short: message text is sent for translation only at the moment it is translated and is not stored by us; we hold no name, email or account for you.

8. Ownership

We own Ambiglot — the extension, the service, the name and the site. You own your messages, in every language. You may not copy, resell, reverse engineer or redistribute the extension or the service, except as the law permits regardless of this clause.

9. No warranty

Ambiglot is provided as it is and as available. We do not promise that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that any translation will be accurate or suitable for any purpose. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be excluded by law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost business, or any loss arising from a mistranslation or from a message you sent. Our total liability to you for anything arising from Ambiglot is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

11. Ending service

You can stop at any time by uninstalling. We may end or suspend service for breach of these terms, or discontinue Ambiglot altogether with at least 30 days' notice, refunding any prepaid period not yet used.

12. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you through the extension or by the email you gave at checkout at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Ambiglot after that is acceptance; cancelling before it is always open to you.

13. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [YOUR STATE / COUNTRY], and its courts have jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and may bring a claim there. If something goes wrong, write to us first; most things are fixed in an email.
